Project Description
The El-Dabaa NPP will be the first nuclear power plant in Egypt. The project will involve the construction of an NPP comprising four Russian-designed VVER-1200 pressurised water reactors.
With a nameplate capacity of 4.8 GWe, the plant is expected to account for up to 50% of Egypt’s power generation capacity to increase the country’s increasing demand for electricity.

Construction of the first unit of the El-Dabaa NPP has been licensed by the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority, World Nuclear News has reported. The permit has been issued to the NPPA.
Construction of the first of the four planned reactors at the NPP can now begin.
