The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) on Thursday called off all protest action at Clicks stores nationwide after meeting with the retailer’s delegation.

Clicks recently came under fire for airing a Tresemmé advert that described black woman’s hair as ‘frizzy and dull’ while describing white woman’s hair as ‘normal'.

The retailer issued an apology and has since pulled Tresemmé products off its shelves.

The EFF said it was disappointed in how Clicks initially handled the matter and said the apology was not enough.

Following what the party describes as a constructive meeting with Clicks, the EFF has accepted Clicks’ remorse to all South Africans, black women in particular, for advert.

Clicks will further withdraw all Tresemmé products from all its stores and replace them with locally produced products.

The retailer will also donate 50 000 sanitary pads to rural and informal settlements identified by the EFF and award five black, rural, female, orphaned students scholarships to pursue pharmaceutical qualifications next year.

The red berets have vowed to work with law enforcement agencies to ensure those involved in the vandalism of Clicks stores are dealt with.

“In line with the above, the EFF and Clicks have put the matter in question to rest. We have agreed to hold further discussions on transformation within Clicks relating to procurement, empowerment, employment equity, localisation and diversification of supplier base,” said the party.
