Aim-listed Edenville Energy says the wash plant at its Rukwa coal project, in Tanzania, has started operating.

This follows the restart of mining activities at the project’s Northern Pit on August 3.

The company also announced that the required repairs and upgrades have been carried out to the main access road to the project and the road from the Northern Pit to the wash plant after heavy rains damaged both roads earlier this year.

Additionally, Edenville has advised shareholders that it had received prepayment for coal from an existing customer and that the coal was ready for collection from the customer on site.

CEO Alistair Muir commented that, with the wash plant being reactivated, the site was now operational for the ongoing mining and processing of Rukwa’s coal, ahead of an upcoming handover of operations to Edenville’s strategic partner Infrastructure Logistics Tanzania, on September 1.

“We expect to finalise and enter into the previously outlined sales and marketing agreement, which will see Infrastructure Logistics Tanzania take on an anchor tenancy of up to 5 000 t a month of washed coal, while also using its logistics and distribution network to complement Edenville’s existing efforts to expand its sales.”
