Name of the Mine
Eagle River Gold Mining Complex (ERC).

Location
About 50 km west of Wawa, in Ontario, Canada.

Mine Owner/s
Wesdome Gold Mines.

Brief Description
ERC comprises the Eagle River mine (ERM), an underground operating mine with mineral assets; the Mishi mine, an openpit mine currently not in production, but with mineral resources; and Eagle River mill – the common processing facilities for both mines.

Brief History
ERM is an active underground mine that has been in continuous production since 1995.

Primary Metals/Minerals
Gold.

Secondary Metals/Minerals
None stated.

Geology/Mineralisation
The Eagle River and Mishi deposits are mesothermal-lode gold deposits hosted by Archean Greenstone Belts. This type of deposit is also known as orogenic, or shear zone-hosted gold deposit.

Orogenic gold deposits are hosted by shear zones in orogenic belts, specifically in metamorphosed fore- and back-arc regions, and were formed during syn- to late metamorphic stages of orogeny.

Formation of orogenic gold deposits affiliated with structural evolution and structural geometry of lithospheric crust, as hydrothermal fluids, migrate through preexisting and active discontinuities, such as faults, shear zones and lithological boundaries, created by tectonic processes.

Reserves
Total proven and probable reserves as at December 31, 2021, were estimated at 1.07-million tonnes grading 15.3 g/t gold.

Resources
Total measured and indicated resources as at December 31, 2021, were estimated at 465 000 t grading 10.2 g/t gold. Inferred resources were estimated at 596 000 grading 13.3 g/t gold.

Mining Method
Underground longhole. The ERC deposit was initially mined using a shrinkage mining method before converting to its current mining method of captive sublevel open stoping with access to the sublevel provided by Alimak raises, a variant of longhole stoping.

Major Infrastructure/Equipment
The principal infrastructure of the ERC consists of three spatially separated clusters.

The mill, mill camp, tailings management area, Mishi pit, outside core storage facilities, Mishi camp and exploration office are in the northern tenement.

The Cameron Lake camp, located about 3 km north of the ERM, and mine facilities, such as offices, a maintenance shop, shaft house and a helicopter landing site, are located in the southern tenement.

Primary power is provided from the Ontario provincial grid through a 48-km-long, 115 kV line from Wawa to the mill; the line is owned by Wesdome. Power to the mine is provided by an 18 km 27.5 kV line from the main substation at the mill.

Prospects
Wesdome is  exploring the ERC property, including the recently discovered Falcon zones, to increase production from 650 t/d to 850 t/d.
