Dust control solutions help expand operational efficiencies
South Africa-based dust management services company Dust-A-Side (DAS) offers a range of services encompassing advanced dust suppression, road management, and environmental performance for industrial and infrastructure applications.
The company offers integrated dust management services and a spectrum of products engineered to bind and/or seal haul roads aimed at improving production efficiencies and safe operation in all weather conditions. Its services include site assessment, product application, and tailored solutions for specific needs.
DAS dust control products include bitumen-based and non-bituminous solutions designed for different environmental and operational conditions. One of its core products is a bitumen-based sealant that provides dust control and waterproofing while maintaining road stability. The product is designed to reduce water usage and enhances safety by improving visibility, remaining effective across different climates without leaching once cured.
Other sealant options, such as DAS LC, target high-traffic surfaces with durable, all-weather performance and reduced maintenance requirements. A bio-based bituminous emulsion, DAS Bio, is designed for haul roads, reducing gravel loss and dust levels while offering biodegradability and improved traction.
Additional products include Hydrosperse, a blend of lignosulphonate and bitumen emulsions, which provides partial surface sealing that reduces dust and gravel loss while allowing for surfaces to be trafficked straight after application. The Hydrotac and Aquatarp products function as binders that stabilise surfaces to reduce erosion and dust emissions. Acribind is a non-bituminous blend of lignosulphonate and synthetic polymer that binds fine particles to prevent soil erosion and dust, while Hydrowet is an environment-friendly product designed to be easy to apply, reducing dust emissions and enhancing compaction.
The product range offers additional benefits such as reduced diesel consumption, extended tyre life, lower maintenance, and improved haul cycle times. In addition, DAS highlights potential water savings of over 90%, alongside increased productivity and reduced downtime after rain.
DAS also offers dust monitoring technology to provide real-time environmental data that is transmitted to a Web-based dashboard with live access, historical tracking, and alert functionality, enabling operators to monitor conditions and adjust mitigation strategies.
Industries that can benefit from the company’s products and services include mining, construction, railways, quarries, agriculture, community settlements, civil construction, dry bulk material terminals, tailings facilities and waste dumps, transport yards, and municipal and rural road networks.
DAS boasts an international footprint, with a presence in India and several countries across Africa.
The company will be exhibiting at the upcoming Electra Mining Africa expo and invites interested parties to visit its stand to discuss its wide portfolio of products and services.
