Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) on Wednesday announced the upcoming retirement of its Durban port manager Thami Ntshingila.

TNPA CE Tau Morwe said the authority would be transparent in its recruitment process when looking for a suitable replacement, guided by the TNPA talent management forum and human resources policies.

“We will strive to transcend the barriers of race and gender to ensure that the new Durban port manager will be the very best person for the job, with the appropriate qualifications and expertise to manage the busiest port in Southern Africa,” he said.

Ntshingila, who had been a port manager for 14 years, would play a critical role in mentoring his successor.
