PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior gold miner Doray Minerals has officially opened its Andy Well mine, in the Murchison region of Western Australia.

The Andy Well opencast operation poured its first gold in August this year, and delivered 13 802 oz of gold in the September quarter.

The mine is the first new gold operation in the Murchison region in over ten years, and Doray MD Allan Kelly said on Wednesday that the quality and high-grade nature of the Wilber lode proved that there were still quality deposits left for discovery in Western Australia.

“This is the beginning of a new chapter in Doray’s story with at least two additional high-grade lodes discovered in parallel to the Wilber lode, indicating the potential to extend the mine life past the initial three-and-a-half years indicated in the bankable feasibility study.”

“We have literally just scratched the surface at Andy Well and look forward to exploring and developing further resources in the near future,” said Kelly.

Doray is currently progressing the underground development of the Andy Well mine.
