Do you care enough to make your feet spin?

Running a successful business is not as easy as riding a bike.
On Thursday, 28th July 2022, ORT Jet held their Cyclethon fundraiser at Montana The Club in Rosebank, Johannesburg. Planet Fitness donated stationary spinning bikes for the cyclists to have a fun evening of spinning and partying. The Cyclethon is one of ORT Jet’s biggest fundraisers. ORT Jet is an NPO dedicated to facilitating the growth of businesses, SMEs and entrepreneurs through mentorship, training, and networking.
The night was a hit. Multiple members said they enjoyed the energy and the atmosphere at the event. The music was hosted by celebrity DJs: DJ DekStir and Jordan Harris. We would like to thank the four skilled spinning instructors (Denise Modlin, Lara Modlin, Okayode James, Malcolm Siggemann) who donated their time, expertise, and motivational spirit while challenging and entertaining us. There was a jovial atmosphere, thanks to our boisterous MC Steven Saunders, as everyone came prepared to cycle, network, and have fun. Alongside sponsors and cyclists, The ORT Jet team has fashioned an ecosystem of support for SMEs and entrepreneurs in Johannesburg. In South Africa, SMEs represent 98 percent of businesses, employ between 50 and 60 percent of the country's workforce, and account for a quarter of job growth. Hence it is vital that we keep this growing sector alive and thriving.
We want to thank all the sponsors who made this night a success: Planet Fitness, Sasfin, The Facilities Company, Victorinox Swiss Army Picot and Moss, Aquazania, Lulaway, Norman Goodfellows, and Steph Cohen owner of Montana The Club. Apart from our star-studded DJs, we were privileged to be joined by four Mrs. South Africa finalists (Lechar Knezovich, Thabby Brosens, Yolandi Naicker, and Priya Lutchman).
Lechar Knezovich, a Mrs. South Africa 2022 finalist and property manager, remarked, “I’ve never done a cyclethon, let alone a spinning class, but when I heard it was for charity, it was motivation enough for me. When I arrived, Montana was set out with bikes, and my competitive side was ready to give it all I got. Thank you, ORT Jet, for pushing me out of my comfort zone as in that I realised just how much fun cycling to music could be! It was such a wonderful event and I loved every minute of it.”
By giving to ORT Jet, you are not only investing yourself in a business; you are investing in the lives of a small business owner who puts food on the table but also contributes to the South African economy at large. We are growing our country one small business at a time; together, everyone can make a difference.
