Project Description
The project involves the construction of a 60 000 m3/d capacity desalination plant that will supply water to Teshie, Tema and Nungua, on the outskirts of Accra.

Value
The project is estimated at $126-million.

Duration
Commercial operations are expected to start in 2014.

Latest Developments
Financial services provider Standard Bank has arranged an international financing package for the development of the desalination plant.

Abengoa and Sojitz will contribute equity funding to cover 30% of the project’s costs, with the bank providing the balance of the funding in the form of senior debt.
