Deflector progressing to schedule
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Production at the Deflector gold project, in Western Australia, has moved to transition ore, boosting gold and copper recoveries, Doray Minerals has reported.
MD Allan Kelly said on Thursday that the company was pleased with the progress of mining and production ramp-up at Deflector, and was looking forward to the start of production from the primary sulphide ore in the new year.
“As predicted, gold and copper recoveries have increased markedly as we move into the transition ore and we are also seeing some very high-grade sulphide mineralisation being exposed with our first development drives.”
Mining of the openpit is progressing with some 90% complete at the end of October and production has reduced to a single day shift, as the available work area decreased towards the base of the pit.
The pit was now scheduled for completion in early 2017, and Kelly said that the evaluation of a possible southern extension to the pit was ongoing. However, mining of any extensions will be deferred to a later date.
Meanwhile, underground development is also progressing on schedule, with the decline and lateral access advanced 920 m at the end of October.
A total of 200 m of ore drive development within the Western and Central Lodes has been completed to date, in preparation for the start of stoping in early 2017.
