Project Description
The project involves the phased development and construction of a deep-sea transshipment port.

The port will have world-class infrastructure and will be developed to serve the logistics needs of the Gulf of Guinea.

Value
The total investment for the phases of the development is estimated at $800-million.

Duration
The first phase is set to be completed by 2018. The port is expected to be operational in 2019.

Latest Developments
The Sao Tome Principe government and the China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) have successfully concluded discussions and signed a memorandum of understanding for the design and construction of the deep-sea port.

The CHEC plans to invest at least $120-million in the project.
