PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Project house Decmil Group has been awarded a A$37.5-million contract to construct fuel infrastructure for the Roy Hill iron-ore project, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The Decmil contract followed closely on the heels of a A$500-million early mining services contract awarded to Downer, and a A$620-million rail formation contract awarded to NRW Holdings.

Decmil was also previously awarded a A$71-million contract to design and construct rail and port facilities at Roy Hill, along with the associated infrastructure.

The company said that it would start work on site by March next year, with an anticipated completion of the diesel fuel infrastructure by March 2015.

The Roy Hill mine would produce 55-million tons a year, with production set for 2015. The project would involve a fleet of 18 haul trucks and two excavators, and would employ about 220 people.
