Project Description
The project will secure power supply for the four Mano river countries – Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea – and is one of the priority projects of the WAPP Master Plan.
The project will include the construction of about 1 411 km of high-voltage transmission line; the extension of a new high-voltage substation in Man, in Côte d’Ivoire; new high-voltage substations in Yekepa, Buchanan, Monrovia and Mano, in Liberia; new high-voltage substations in Nzérékoré and Linsan, in Guinea; a new high-voltage substation in Kenema, Bikongor, Bumbuna, Yiben and Kamakwie, in Sierra Leone; and the rehabilitation of two 66 kV transmission lines from the Mount Coffee substation to Bushrod and from the Mount Coffee substation to Paynesville, in Monrovia.
The CLSG project will include a capacity-building component to ensure the transfer of knowledge to national structures to improve the management of future interconnections in West Africa.
