A new dual bevel sliding compound mitre saw offers the power of a corded 305 mm mitre saw but is up to 15% lighter than corded models.

The saw can deliver up to 500 cuts in a 78 mm pine board on one 12.0 Ah battery charge while offering the same capacity as 305 mm corded mitre saws.

The M18 FUEL 305 mm Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Mitre Saw from Milwaukee Tool is equipped with the company’s one-key digital platform, allowing users to track, manage, and secure the mitre saw through the one-key application on a smart phone.

As with all Milwaukee Tool M18 FUEL solutions, the saw combines three unique innovations, namely:

  • The POWERSTATE brushless motor
  • REDLITHIUM-ION battery pack
  • REDLINK PLUS intelligence.

Milwaukee explains that it created a new POWERSTATE brushless motor for the saw, which delivers 3 500 rpm for smooth, fast cuts without bogging down. Boasting the same capacity as a traditional corded mitre saw, the tool can complete a wide range of core carpentry applications, from frame to finish, including 173 mm vertical capacity for cutting large bases up against a fence and 190 mm crown nested for cutting large crown moulding in position.

The saw features a dual bevel design which provides a maximum bevel capacity of 48° left and right with stops at common settings. An adjustable stainless-steel detent plate includes 11 detent stops and allows a mitre range of 50° left and 60° right. A detent override allows users lock the saw in place for more control when a cut is needed at an uncommon angle. The tool also features a shadow cut line indicator for improved accuracy, to overcome the disadvantages of lasers which can be inaccurate, inconsistent and difficult to see. An LED directs light onto the cutline making it easier to make accurate cuts in low light conditions.

Milwaukee asserts that when the saw is equipped with its M18 REDLITHIUM-ION HIGH OUTPUT 12.0 Ah battery, it can power through up to 500 cuts in a 78 mm pine board on a single charge, eliminating the inconvenience of cords or the need to change multiple battery packs, while exceeding the performance of higher voltage solutions in the industry. The new HIGH OUTPUT 12.0 Ah battery is said to provide 50% more power, run 50% cooler and deliver 33% more run time than the M18 REDLITHIUM-ION 9.0 Ah battery. In addition, a redesigned REDLINK PLUS intelligence package promises maximum performance of the tool under load and prevents overloading and overheating.
