Company Announcement: Tungsten Mining Intersects High-Grade Mineralisation at Kilba Project
Tungsten Mining NL is pleased to report very positive results from the final analysis of the first eight holes of its Phase 1 drilling programme, at the Kilba tungsten project in the Gascoyne Region of Western Australia. The results provide important momentum for Tungsten Mining in its focus on the rapid evaluation and development of the Kilba Project. The Company commenced diamond drilling in November 2012 to confirm the presence of high-grade tungsten mineralisation indicated by drilling completed by Union Carbide Corporation in the 1970s/1980s. Drilling is targeting Zone 11 located on the 100% owned, granted Mining Lease 08/314.
Tungsten mineralisation is associated with a sedimentary package containing skarn, calc-silicate and sedimentary units. This mineralised horizon contains multiple narrow skarns that are often very high-grade in nature (>1.0% WO3) and enclosed in lower grade disseminated scheelite mineralisation (0.05 – 0.30% WO3) which is hosted by calc-silicate and sedimentary units. Figure 3 shows this style of mineralisation and the continuity of stronger zones of mineralisation.
Next drilling Phases underway
Given the excellent grades received to date, the Company has commenced the Phases II and III drilling programmes, which are planned for completion by the end of the first quarter of 2013. Phase II will consist of reverse circulation and diamond drilling on 80m spaced section lines over 800 metres of strike at Zone 11. Phase III will feature further in-fill drilling on selected section lines, at 40m intervals. Subject to ongoing positive results, this current activity is the first, and a major component of, studies that are being executed as the basis for a full FeasibilityStudy. The Company intends to carry out the Feasibility Study over the next 8-12 months to determine the commercial viability of a mine at Kilba.
