Leading design, civil engineering and construction company Decmil Group Limited (ASX: DCG) wishes to announce the appointment of Jonathan Holmes to the position of Executive General Manager of Decmil Australia, the Group’s wholly-owned subsidiary and major operating division. Mr Holmes, who will commence in the role in July 2013, is a highly experienced construction industry executive who currently holds the position of Operations Manager East for John Holland Minerals and Industrial, based in Brisbane. Mr Holmes has been involved in many major construction and infrastructure projects throughout Queensland over the past 15 years. He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Economics.

The Executive General Manager position is a newly-created role, with responsibility for winning work and operational delivery for Decmil Australia. The appointment of Mr Holmes has been made as part of a succession plan that has been developed by the Company. The plan has been implemented as Ray Sputore, Managing Director of Decmil Australia, has informed the Board that he wishes to transition out of the business. Mr Sputore will continue to be a Director of Decmil Australia, and will support Mr Holmes in his transition to the leadership role. Decmil CEO Scott Criddle said: “Under Ray Sputore’s leadership over the past two years, Decmil Australia has achieved revenue growth and profitability. Ray’s experience, abilities and industry network have been invaluable in taking Decmil Australia to the next level.”

Mr Criddle said as part of planning for Mr Sputore’s departure, the Board had embarked on the process of identifying a suitably qualified successor. “This process of planning for the future is an important part of ensuring that the growth we have achieved over recent years is sustained. “We are delighted to welcome Jonathan Holmes to the Decmil team. His experience within the Queensland construction market, which is a particular focus for the Company’s growth strategy, will undoubtedly prove invaluable as we build the business over the years ahead.”
