PERTH (miningweekly.com) – First ore has been processed in the wet concentrator at the Coburn mineral sands project, in Western Australia.

ASX-listed Strandline Resources on Wednesday said that while commissioning of the wet concentrator was under way, construction teams remained focused on finalising the downstream mineral separation plant (MSP) and the remaining support infrastructure.

“The team has overcome some well-documented challenges in the mining and construction industry and has achieved this success with zero lost-time or medical treatment injuries recorded to date,” said Strandline MD Luke Graham.

“With ore commissioning and tuning of the wet concentrator plant underway, we are now working to accumulate a stockpile of heavy mineral concentrate ahead of our first shipment.

“At the same time, the construction emphasis is on completion of the MSP and remaining project infrastructure.”

Strandline remains on track for first heavy mineral concentrate shipment for later this quarter.

Coburn has an ore reserves of 523-million tonnes and an initial mine life of 22.5 years at a planned average mining rate of 23.4-million tonnes a year, with the potential to extend its mine life to more than 37 years.
