Company Announcement - Coega Celebrates the Achievement as Top Employer in Public Sector -  the only government organization to win such an award in 2013/2014FY. Coega Development Corporation is proud to announce that it has been officially certified by the Top Employers Institute for its exceptional employee offerings. The annual international research undertaken by the Top Employers Institute recognises leading employers around the world: those that provide excellent employee conditions, nurture and develop talent throughout all levels of the organisation, and which strive to continuously optimise employment practices. Coega Development Corporation has been awarded the exclusive Top Employers South Africa 2015 certification. The Top Employers Institute globally certifies excellence in the conditions that employers create for their people. It has just announced the results of this year’s research into the employee conditions of significant employers in South Africa. Coega Development Corporation is one of the select organisations to achieve the Top Employers South Africa 2015 certification and delighted to be officially recognised as a leading employer.

Crucial to the Top Employers process is that participating companies must complete a stringent research process and meet the required high standard in order to achieve the certification. To further reinforce the validity of the process, all answers were independently audited, meaning this research has verified Coega Development Corporation’s outstanding employee conditions and earned them a coveted spot among a choice group of certified Top Employers.

The Top Employers Institute assessed Coega Development Corporation’s employee offerings on the following criteria:
• Talent Strategy
• Workforce Planning
• On-boarding
• Learning & Development
• Performance Management
• Leadership Development
• Career & Succession Management
• Compensation & Benefits
• Culture

Bongi Stofile, CDC head of human resources said it was a prestigious accolade with only the world’s leading employers certified as Top Employers. “Organisations who receive the Top Employers certification demonstrate that they provide an outstanding employment environment and nurture and develop talent throughout all levels of the organisation.“Becoming certified provides companies with the opportunity to celebrate this achievement and to reinforce the positive role of the HR environment in the business,” Stofile said. Dr Ayanda Vilakazi, CDC head of Marketing and Communications said, “this recognition demonstrates that CDC take Human Capital as key driver for business performance and continuous improvement.  As employer of choice, the CDC is a trusted employer beneficial for its current and prospective employees”.

“It is humbling for our organisation to be in the top employer super league, which this year also included Unilever, Coca-Cola South Africa, Anglo American, Dimension Data, MTN, Imperial Group, Microsoft, Pfizer and Samsung Electronics,” he said. Dr. Vilakazi said Coega has in the past year been awarded several other awards, and in recent times, the Most Empowered Enterprise (SA Premier Business Awards, 2014), Job Creation Award (13th Annual Oliver Empowerment Awards, 2013) and Top Performing Parastatal or Government Agency (National Business Awards, 2013).
