CNG Holdings participated in a coordinated emergency preparedness exercise on 24 June 2026, led by Sasol Pipeline Operations and conducted in partnership with the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services and other emergency response stakeholders at the Sasol Pressure Reducing Station (PRS) in Langlaagte.

The exercise formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness, test response capabilities, and enhance coordination between industry, municipal authorities, emergency services, and neighbouring businesses operating within the area.

As a key stakeholder and end user located adjacent to the Sasol PRS facility, CNG Holdings participated in the exercise to support alignment with established emergency response protocols that would be activated in the event of a gas-related incident.

The simulated scenario tested communication channels, incident management procedures, emergency response times, traffic management, and coordination between multiple responding agencies, including the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, Egoli Gas,  Gauteng Emergency Medical Services, South African Police Service, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department, and Sasol Pipeline Operations.

Josua le Roux, Chief Executive Officer of CNG Holdings, commented:

"Safety remains our number one and highest priority. At CNG Holdings, we believe that #SafetyStartsWithMe, and participation in exercises such as these allows us to strengthen our preparedness, validate our emergency response procedures, and work closely with our partners and emergency services to support the safety of our employees, customers, neighbouring businesses, and the wider community."

At CNG Holdings, safety is more than a compliance requirement; it is a core value embedded throughout the organisation. Natural gas plays an important role in supporting South Africa's industrial and transport sectors. The company's #SafetyStartsWithMe campaign encourages every employee to take personal responsibility for contributing to a safe working environment for themselves, their colleagues, customers, and the communities in which the company operates.

The exercise was conducted in a controlled environment and formed part of annual emergency preparedness requirements for major hazard installations and associated infrastructure.

CNG Holdings commends Sasol Pipeline Operations, the City of Johannesburg, emergency response agencies, Egoli Gas and all participating stakeholders for their commitment to maintaining high safety standards and fostering collaboration in emergency preparedness.
