According to International Finance Corporation (IFC) documentation, the investment will be channelled into a holding company, HoldCo, which will have a shareholding structure of 45% owned by a multinational company (Company A), 35% by another multinational company (Company B), 10% by IFC and 10% by the Global Agriculture Food Security Programme (GASFP). Through HoldCo, an operating company (OpCo) will be established in Rwanda, with HoldCo having an estimated 90% equity stake in the OpCo, and 10% owned by the government of Rwanda.
Project Description
The project involves the construction and operation of a 45 000 t/y processing plant, in Rwanda, for fortified cereals to treat child malnutrition.
The processing plant will be located on land owned by government, adjacent to an existing maize drying and storage facility, with five silos of 2 000 t each, also owned by government.
All the equipment for the facility will be provided by Buhler.
Value
The project is estimated at $150-million.
Duration
Construction is expected to start in September, with the project expected to be operational within 12 to 18 months depending on various factors.
Latest Developments
The IFC, together with the GASFP expects to provide up to $72-million in equity and debt investments.
