CEMEX Latam Holdings (CLH), a subsidiary of CEMEX.

Project Description
The project involves the construction of a new cement grinding plant in Ciudad Sandino, Managua, which is expected to increase CLH’s cement production capacity in Nicaragua by about 104%.

The project is expected to be completed in two phases and reach an estimated cement production capacity of 860 000 t/y by 2017.

During the first phase, $30 million will be invested in infrastructure procurement and in the installation of a cement grinding mill, with a production capacity of about 220 000 t/y.

The second phase, with an investment of $25-million, includes the installation of a second cement grinding mill, with a production capacity of 220 000 t/y.

In addition, CLH will implement reforestation in the area and community support plans, starting with the launch of its Self-Employment Productions Centres, or Centros Productivos de Auto Empleo (CPAs) programme, whereby concrete blocks are produced for home improvement in collaboration with communities and local governments.

Value
CLH will invest about $55-million in the construction of the grinding mill.

Duration
The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2015.

The second phase is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
