Client
The Coega Development Corporation (CDC) is implementing the upgrade of the hospital on behalf of the Department of Health (DoH) through its programme management unit, CDC-Services.
Project description
CMH, in Mdantsane, is receiving a major face-lift to modernise the physical structure of the building, while simultaneously improving the provision of healthcare services in the area.
The project comprises the construction of a new 46 500 m2 double-storey main hospital building in seven phases.
All outdated structures will be demolished in phases, and the entire existing grounds will be reconfigured to make way for a modern state-of-the-art hospital.
The hospital will include a nursing college, a new 150-bed step-down facility, a 100-bed psychiatric unit and the upgrade of the current hospital to a 350-bed facility.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2015.
Latest developments
Chryso Southern Africa’s products are being used extensively at the CMH upgrade. Products include a.b.e.’s brixeal, plastergrip, duralatex and durarep, among others.
