Project Description
Carina has a mineral resource estimated to contain 168.1-million tonnes in the inferred category at 1 510 parts per million (ppm) total rare-earth oxides (TREOs), containing an average dysprosium and terbium grade of 42.1 ppm and 6.9 ppm respectively.

The project is based on standard openpit extraction techniques using conventional hydraulic excavators and 44 t payload haulage trucks to extract and deliver the clays to the process plant.

The preliminary economic assessment highlights significant production of magnetic REEs comprising 70 307 t of TREOs, 18 546 t of neodymium and praseodymium, 2 802 t of dysprosium and 479 t of terbium.

A pretax net present value of $1.88-billion, at an 8% discount rate, and an internal rate of return of 35.7% has been estimated for the project. Payback is estimated at 3.6 years.

$576-million.

Alacra aims to start with a feasibility study in the second quarter of 2024.
