The demonstration project will be located adjacent to an oil refinery in Tomakomai, Hokkaido.

The CCS facility will have a capacity of 200 000 t/y of carbon dioxide and will include compression, transportation and injection facilities.

Performance testing is scheduled to be completed at the end of January 2016.

JGC Corporation has been awarded a contract to construct the core facilities at the CCS project.

The lump-sum turnkey contract calls for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning work associated with the project.
