The project involves the construction of a 47 MW captive power plan in the mountain desert, close to Taif city. The power plant will serve a cement factory in extreme temperatures of up to 50 °C and at an altitude of more than 1 000 m.

Wärtsilä has received an order to supply a turnkey power plant to Umm Al-Qura Cement Company.

The power plant consists of five 20-cylinder Wärtsilä 32TS engines designed to operate at outstanding efficiency, even in extreme conditions such as high ambient temperatures and high altitudes. The engines also deliver reduced fuel consumption while complying with World Bank environment health and safety guidelines for nitrogen oxide emissions.
