Turnkey residential property and Memorial Parks developer, Calgro M3, worked closely with key community leaders to donate over 3,000 bottles of much-needed hand sanitiser to the Fleurhof community yesterday, ahead of the country’s 21-day COVID-19 lockdown, which came into effect at midnight on 26 March.

Over and above the 3,000 bottles distributed, other beneficiaries in need of urgent assistance included the nearby Military Veteran Unit and the Florida Police Station, which also received hand sanitiser and gloves to assist them with their continued community service in a safe, responsible manner. One of Johannesburg’s first fully integrated housing developments, Fleurhof currently has around 23,600 residents. The development has won multiple awards including the “Project of the Year” by the South African Housing Foundation; and the Govan Mbeki Awards for Best FLISP (finance linked individual subsidy programme) Project; Best Integrated Project; Best Informal Settlement Upgrade and Best Social Housing Project.

“Fleurhof is close to the hearts of all at Calgro M3 as it was and remains the flagship fully integrated development, not only for the Group but for the country – it demonstrates what integrated housing and community living is all about by having access to parks, recreational facilities, schools, churches and creches,” says Calgro M3 CEO, Wikus Lategan.

Lategan added that because timing was of the essence in this context, the Group was only able to supply hand sanitiser to the Fleurhof communities at this stage. “However, as soon as we obtain permission to continue and procure more stock, we’d like to keep going with our efforts to reach other communities as well. We also encourage all South Africans to adhere to the rules of the lockdown during the next 21 days. Stay safe everyone!”
