Botten steps aside after 25 years
PERTH (mingweekly.com) – ASX-listed Oil Search has tapped Dr Keiran Wulff as successor to MD Peter Botten, who will be retiring from the company in August next year, after 25 years at the helm.
Wulff is currently Oil Search’s executive VP for Alaska and the president of Oil Search Alaska. He worked for the company between 1993 and 2008 holding several senior technical, operational and executive roles, and re-joined the company again in 2015.
Wulff will be appointed as CEO designate from the end of September this year, and will retain his Alaskan responsibilities until mid-December, to manage the company’s entry into front-end engineering design for the Pikka Unit development, while also engaging progressively with all stakeholders involved in budget and panning matters for 2020 and beyond.
He will take over the role as MD and join the board of Oil Search in February 2020.
Bruce Dingham, who is currently COO of the Alaska business, will take over as president Alaska.
Botten, meanwhile, will remain as MD until February next year, and will continue to be employed by Oil Search until August, focusing on the expansion of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects and the co-ventures moving toward a final investment decision, as well as assisting in other matters.
“The board is extremely appreciative of Botten’s long and dedicated service to Oil Search over the past 26 years. Under his leadership, Oil Search has grown from a small exploration and production company to a regionally significant oil, gas and LNG producer and exporter,” said chairperson Rick Lee on Tuesday.
“Botten is recognsied as one of the world’s most successful corporate executives, as well as a leader in environmental, social governance and corporate social responsibility.”
