Project Description
The Bokamoso project was awarded preferred bidder status by the Department of Energy in June 2015, as part of the additional 13 projects that were awarded in the fourth round of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme.
According to SunEdison’s presentation on the project to the National Energy Regulator of South Africa in September, the project involves the construction of solar photovoltaic plant, with a 63 MW ac capacity, in Leeudoringstad.
It will include a new 132 kV substation and a new 132 kV loop in, loop out into an existing Eskom 132 kV overhead line.
The solar project will use single-axis tracker technology.
