The Department of Trade and Industry reports that it will host a ‘Black Industrialists Indaba’ in Midrand, Gauteng, on March 25 and 26.

The event is being pursued in support of the department’s Black Industrialists Development Programme, which is an initiative designed to promote the participation of black entrepreneurs in the area of manufacturing and particularly within priority sectors identified in the country’s Industrial Policy Action Plan.

The objective is to facilitate a dialogue between the public and private sectors on how both economic transformation and reindustrialisation could be fostered and facilitated. The indaba will also seek to advance government’s developmental objectives of skills development, job creation, localisation and supplier development.

Deputy Trade and Industry Minister Mzwandile Masina says the outcomes of the gathering should provide government with a more accurate base for developing products and services that seek to advance sustainable and economically viable black industrialists.

The event will take place at the Gallagher Convention Centre.
