Technology partners of Bidvest Mobility, Zebra Technologies and FarEye, highlighted the growing role of digitalisation, automation and AI in improving transport and logistics efficiency at the Transport Evolution Africa Forum and Expo, held in Midrand.
Speaking to Engineering News, Zebra Technologies senior account manager Bianca Dalgarno said the company's technologies help transport and logistics operators gain real-time visibility of assets and operations, enabling more efficient and accurate deliveries. The company offers solutions including radio frequency identification, fixed industrial scanning, machine vision, mobile computing and mobile printing technologies.
Dalgarno noted that the rapid growth of e-commerce has placed increasing pressure on logistics providers, particularly in the last mile, where customers expect faster and more frequent deliveries. She said Zebra's technologies help companies improve productivity and streamline operations to meet these demands. The company also continues to invest heavily in research and development and has made sustainability a key focus across its operations.
FarEye cofounder Gautam Kumar emphasised the significant growth potential of Africa's logistics sector, citing rising consumer demand and increasing digital adoption. He said the partnership between FarEye, Zebra Technologies and Bidvest Mobility combines leading software, hardware and local market expertise to help businesses improve supply chain performance.
Kumar also highlighted FarEye's AI-powered dispatch platform, which is designed to improve route planning, increase first-attempt delivery rates and reduce logistics costs.
