PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Mining giant BHP Billiton on Thursday priced a four-tranche $5-billion global bond to raise proceeds for general corporate purposes.

The miner said that the global bond comprised $500-million senior floating rate notes due in 2016, paying interest at three-months US dollar London Interbank Offer Rate (LIBOR) plus 25 basis points; $500-million 2.050% senior notes due in 2018; $1.5-billion 3.85% senior notes due in 2023 and $2.5-billion 5% senior notes due in 2043.

Earlier this year, BHP priced a C$750-million Canadian bond under its Euro medium term note programme, as well as a €750-million bond under its medium-term note programme to refinance its current debt maturities.
