Project description
The project will comprise the construction of a state-of-the-art beverage-can manufacturing facility. The facility will be built in Viana, an 80 000-square-metre newly developed industrial area, near the country's capital, Luanda. The latest beverage can-making technology will be installed on the site and will include the fastest beverage steel-can production line in the southern hemisphere. The facility will be able to produce 1 800 beverage cans a minute for soft drink and beer manufacturers. The new Nampak facility will be able to produce up to 700-million cans a year and has been designed to accommodate a second line in order to meet future growth.
Value
R600-million, which is likely to be followed by a further R300-million investment to double the capacity of the plant.
Duration
Commissioning is expected to take place in mid-2009.
