Battery-converter backpack offers freedom of movement

Internal vibrators are used in the construction industry to help process concrete as quickly as possible and to make concrete stronger and more resistant.

A battery-powered internal vibrator system that aims to allow an operator to work faster, more comfortably and safer, is now available.

The battery-converter backpack makes it possible to work without a power cable, offering the user freedom of movement and operating comfort during concrete consolidation.

The lithium-ion battery is inserted into a converter backpack, allowing the operator to carry the power source with them. This aims to eliminate the need for long power cables, as required in cabled internal vibrators where the vibrators or converters have to be moved to a closer power source. The portability feature may offer a time-saving advantage and an additional safety aspect, especially when working on scaffolding and formwork. Safety risks from power cables in wet concrete are also reduced.

Wacker Neuson states that it is the only provider on the market to offer a battery backpack with a replaceable battery. Customers are given the option of using the same battery from other construction equipment from the company’s product portfolio or continue working with a second battery while the first one charges.

The company explains that it has developed an ergonomic carrying system in partnership with a leading manufacturer. The weight of the backpack is designed to be evenly distributed, with compact and padded shoulder and hip straps. The converter is integrated into the backpack and has a protective low voltage of 34 V. The battery can be inserted or removed without the use of tools.

The vibrator head is hardened in the front third and the high-frequency operation aims to ensure stable revolutions per minute, optimising the quality result in concrete consolidation. It is also said to be sturdy, durable and reliable.

The internal vibrator system is modular, allowing for different vibrator head sizes and protection hoses to be connected to the battery backpack. This allows rental yards with limited space to store the full range of vibrator head and hose sizes. Customers can choose between three standard protection hose lengths of 1.5 m, 3 m and 5 m, and vibrator heads in three different diameters of 38 mm, 45 mm and 58 mm.
