JSE-listed construction, mining, development and engineering group Basil Read Holdings on Monday announced that it had promoted former special projects and construction strategic commercial director Bruce Morton to executive director for construction.

In this new role Morton, who joined Basil Read in February last year, would assume executive control of the various construction companies that formed part of the group’s construction portfolio and would report directly to the group CEO Marius Heyns.

“Morton has proven to be an asset to the Basil Read executive team and, with his specialist skills, we are confident in his ability to lead and take the construction division forward,” Heyns commented.

Morton was previously employed at global engineering group Aurecon as global airport leader and had also been involved in multidisciplinary projects for a number of major South African infrastructure providers including parastatal the South African National Roads Agency and State-owned freight-logistics group Transnet.
