Barloworld Power CAT  (0.13 MB)

Delivering 180 litres per seconds of flow to a height of approximately 190m, the Sykes XH200 supported by Barloworld Power is the new class leader.

AllightSykes raises the bar once again with the launch of its skid mounted Sykes XH200 extra high head dewatering pump, developed to operate in harsh mining and quarrying environments that demand both high water flow and pressure requirements.

As on all Sykes units, the front and rear wear plates and impeller are fabricated from stainless steel, with the XH200 delivering fluid with an impressive efficiency of 73%, pumping 180 litres of flow to heights up to 190m (solids handling: 31mm).

Locally, the XH200 joins a comprehensive Sykes range supplied and supported by Barloworld Power, which entered the fully automatic self-priming centrifugal pump market following the conclusion of an exclusive southern African dealer agreement with AllightSykes, a leading original equipment manufacturer based in Perth, Australia. Fixed on robust, skid-mounted platforms or wheeled trailers, the current Sykes Contractors (CP), HIMAX (HH), and the Xtra (XH) self-prime series for construction, municipal and mining applications is the culmination of more than 40 years of field application, research and development worldwide and particularly in AllightSykes’ home market. These pumps, which are  powered by Cat  engines, can handle a wide spectrum of solids from 18mm up to 90mm dependant on the model specification.

“As mines and quarries go deeper, the XH series is designed to dewater more efficiently and effectively, often in single as opposed to multi stages due to their high output designs,” explains Theo Jooste, business manager: Commercial Engines at Barloworld Power.

“For the XH200, AllightSykes has selected a drive coupling to cover power requirements and resonance conditions (i.e. torsional vibration) to suit any pump and engine combination. This also makes the XH200 unusually robust, as well as helping to reduce fuel consumption, emissions and maintenance costs.”

Alongside the XH200, Barloworld Power has made strong gains in the southern African mining sector with the HIMAX (HH) series. HH models sold locally include the HH160i and HH220i models, which are also heavy-duty, skid-mounted units.

The HH160i, with its operating dry weight of approximately 4 000kg, has a maximum head of 140m, a maximum flow of 186 litres per second and a solids handling capability of 38mm. This compares to the HH220i (operating weight around 7 600kg) with its maximum head of 138m, corresponding flow rate of 282 litres per second and solids handling capability of 55mm.
