Babcock Ntuthuko Engineering obtains Level 1 B-BBEE accreditation

Babcock’s specialised engineering business, Babcock Ntuthuko Engineering (Pty) Ltd, has achieved a Level 1 Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) rating, affirming the company’s commitment to transformation.

Babcock Ntuthuko Engineering supports southern Africa’s energy infrastructure, and other customers in petrochemical, oil, gas and resource beneficiation industries.

Welma Prinsloo, Managing Director of Babcock Ntuthuko Engineering, says that the company acknowledged that in order to prosper, it was imperative to truly transform the business.

As a group, Babcock’s focus is on sustainable growth, diversification, transformation of the business and fostering a business culture of innovation, collaboration and communication. To this end, Babcock Ntuthuko Engineering has implemented a dedicated transformation strategy, which includes 53,59% black ownership and 15,60% black women ownership. The company is also committed to preferential procurement spend, and is involved in various social-economic initiatives.

Babcock has aligned its transformation activities with skills development, EE and B-BBEE requirements, and has invested in a number of key initiatives that will have far-reaching positive benefits to the beneficiaries of these programmes, while contributing to job creation as well as economic growth in the long-term.
