Project Description
The B-System project is part of Columbia’s ongoing modernisation programme to replace ageing infrastructure, upgrade natural gas compression systems and increase pipeline reliability.
The project proposes a pipeline modernisation for the Fairfield and Franklin counties, in Ohio. It includes the construction of about 11 km of new pipeline and the replacement of an existing 22 km pipeline.
The project also involves the retirement of a 28 km pipeline and upgrades to ancillary B-System equipment and facilities, including the replacement of 1 067 m of pipeline at two different interconnect locations.
Upgrades to the B-System will enable Columbia’s pipeline integrity engineers to employ state-of-the-art in-house inspection devices, called smart pigs, which improve safety and reliability by providing detailed information regarding the condition and operability of the pipelines.
