Ayitep wind farm project, Ghana.

Client
Mainstream Renewable Power signed an agreement with Swiss wind farm developer Nek Umwelttechnik to acquire the Ayitep wind farm in September this year. The companies will co-develop the project until financial close.

Project Description
The project involves the construction of a 225 MW wind farm.

When fully operational the wind farm will generate about 10% of Ghana’s total electricity generation capacity, which currently stands at 2 000 MW.

Value
The project represents a total investment of $525-million.

Duration
The project is expected to start generating power early in 2016.

Latest Developments
The project is currently in the latter stages of development, with all major permits secured.

Grid and offtake agreements are being finalised.
