PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed junior Anova Metals has increased the Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource estimate for its Big Springs gold deposit, in Nevada, to just over one-million ounces of gold.

A new resource estimate has placed the measured, indicated and inferred mineral resource of the Big Springs project at 16-million tonnes, grading 2 g/t gold.

Anova said that increasing the cutoff grades to 2.5 g/t gold resulted in a high-grade core of some 3.1-million tonnes, grading 4.2 g/t gold for 415 000 oz.

The junior developer recently submitted a plan of operations for first phase mining at the Big Springs deposit, which incorporates openpit and underground mining.

Over the next six months, the company would incorporate underground mine studies on the ore shoots, as well as a drilling programme that would incorporate hydrological, geotechnical and exploration drilling at both the North and South Sammy deposits.

Permitting of the first phase of mining operations would continue through this period, with the aim of having permits in place later this year.
