Averda announces that its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) rating has been upgraded by Sustainalytics, one of the leading global ESG ratings agencies.

Averda, a private waste management solutions and recycling company operating in emerging markets reported that they had secured the highest rating amongst its peers in the facilities maintenance sub industry with an overall ESG risk rating of Low due to the improved management of its material issues as identified by the ratings agency.

Sustainalytics, an independent ESG and corporate governance research provider, has provided the ESG Risk Rating research as set forth in the ESG Risk Rating Summary Report, which evaluates companies’ sustainability performance by assessing the ESG risk that the company at hand faces within their business and evaluates how well the company manages the risk.

Brindha Roberts, Group Director of Sustainability at Averda says they recognize the vital role that waste management must play in improving the environment and addressing climate change.

Roberts added that the business is working with clients in its countries of operation to drive an improvement in waste treatment solutions through a strategy of increasing the amount of recycling and other opportunities to divert of waste from landfill, enabling circularity.

To support the delivery of these services and increase the focus on sustainability, Averda has made several recent senior appointments including Roberts as Group Director of Sustainability and Mariam Ansari as Director of Plastics Recycling.

These appointments reflect Averda’s strategic focus on bringing cutting edge recycling techniques to the emerging world and its commitment to drive staff diversity at a senior level.

“We believe that ESG and circular economy-related strategic goals are critical not only to the long-term success of our business but also to the restoration of the natural world in which we live and take the issues of sustainability extremely seriously.

"This improvement in ESG rating from medium to low indicates that we are on the right path and the sustainable ways of working are being successfully integrated throughout Averda,” ends Roberts.
