Infrastructure and contract mining group Aveng has announced that its group CE and director Scott Cummins will retire effective January 30.

Aveng has appointed David Simpson interim group CE and director to take over accordingly.

The company says Simpson is a highly experience executive with legal, commercial and management expertise in leading companies through growth, restructuring and transitions.

He has led businesses in engineering, construction, maintenance and consulting services operating in the infrastructure, road, rail, mining and industrial services sectors.

Simpson’s key focus areas at Aveng will include resolving contractual disputes, improving operational performance and improving profitability, as well as positioning the business for growth.

Cummins will still be available to Simpson for consulting as he transitions into the interim CE role, particularly in light of current commercial matters relating to significant claims that need to be resolved.

Meanwhile, the Aveng board has appointed external advisers to help recruit a permanent CEO.

Aveng aims to publish its interim results for the six months ended December 31, 2025, on or about February 24.
