The AAPL will cover Australia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which comprises Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Project Description
The AAPL will be one of the world’s biggest dispatchable renewable electricity systems and will supply renewable electricity to Darwin, in Australia, and the ASEAN region.
The AAPL will integrate three technology groups – the world’s biggest battery, the world’s biggest solar farm, and a 4 500 km high-voltage direct current transmission system from the solar/storage facility to Darwin, Singapore and eventually Indonesia.
The solar farm will include 12 000 ha of solar arrays for a total capacity of 10 GW.
The project will also result in the construction of a new solar farm manufacturing facility.
Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to create 1 500 Australian jobs during construction, 350 ongoing jobs in Australia, as well as indirectly supporting about 12 000 Australian jobs.

Planned Start/End Date
The project is expected to reach financial close by late 2023. Commercial operations are expected in 2027.

The AAPL has been awarded major project status by the Australian and Northern Territory governments.
