Project Description
The Atuabo Free Port is being developed to provide support services for the offshore oil and gas developments in Ghana and the wider West African market.
The project will include:
. logistics supply bases, including warehouses, storage facilities and offices;
. a fabrication yard for the subsea fabrication companies to build the various components for the oil- and gasfield infrastructure;
. rig and vessel repair facilities to provide a base from which to undertake rig and ship repair/modification/maintenance services; and
. business support services for employees of the port users and tenants.
Value
Phase 1 development involves an estimated investment of
$600-million to construct and equip the Freeport.
Duration
The project is expected to be fully operational in 2016.
