PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The share trading of vanadium miner Atlantic was suspended on Wednesday after the company reported a fire at the beneficiation plant of its Windimurra operation, in Western Australia.

The company told shareholders that while the fire at the site had been contained, and no personnel were injured, it was not yet clear what the impact on operations would be.

An investigation into the incident was under way, and shares would remain suspended until the impact of the fire could be reported.

In December, Atlantic reported record ferrovanadium production from the Windimurra project, despite an eight-day production loss while the furnace crucible was changed for re-lining.

The project, which was currently ramping up to its full capacity of 6 300 t/y of contained vanadium, produced 106 t of product during the month of November.
