JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Australia-based lithium and graphite explorer Ardiden has further expanded its portfolio in Canada after staking and securing the grant of the Root Bay lithium project, in Ontario.

The Root Bay project is located immediately adjacent to its Root Lake project, which the company recently acquired from Landore Resources Canada by exercising an option.

Ardiden reported on Wednesday that the greenfield Root Bay project would complement its two advanced lithium-spodumene projects at Seymour Lake and Root Lake, as well as its Manitouwadge graphite project, also in Canada.

The outcropping Root Bay spodumene-bearing pegmatite structure was accidently discovered by a representative of the Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mines in 2011.

Ardiden would undertake an initial structural mapping and sampling programme to determine the quantity and quality of the spodumene mineralisation. The planned activities would be undertaken in conjunction with an upcoming work programme at Root Lake and Seymour Lake.
