PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Doray Minerals has produced its 100 000th ounce of gold from its flagship Andy Well gold mine, in Western Australia, since starting production in August last year.

The miner said on Wednesday that the project had also achieved 365 days without a lost-time injury, with no mining or production-related lost-time injury reported since the start of construction in November 2012.

Gold production at Andy Well reached 18 265 oz during the three months ended September, with the miner on Wednesday reporting that head grades have continued to improve since the end of the quarter, following from the optimisation of underground mining methods.

The average head grade increased from the 8.3 g/t reported in September to 9.6 g/t in October.

Furthermore, Doray was undertaking a A$2.7-million realignment of a portion of the Great Northern Highway, which runs adjacent to the Andy Well mine, allowing for mining of the Stage 2 openpit to start in the second half of the 2015 financial year.
