PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Uranium miner Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) has appointed Andrea Sutton as its new CEO and MD, effective from September 23.

Sutton will replace Rob Atkinson, who resigned as MD and CEO to take over the role of COO for diversified miner Rio Tinto’s copper group.

Sutton was employed at Rio for some 19 years, and was currently the MD of the diversified miner’s Support Strategy review team. Prior to that, she held various roles within the company, including GM of operations at the Bengalla mine, and GM of infrastructure for the iron-ore division.

ERA has been facing tough economic conditions, with the miner in August reporting an 8% decline in sales revenue for the first half of the financial year.
