Amplats lauded for gender quality practices
JSE-listed Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) has been included in the latest Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) for the third year in a row.
The company takes pride in its inclusive and diverse workplace, and the fact that it is one of 418 companies across 45 countries and regions to be included in the index.
“We have made great strides in improving the representation of women across all levels of the company, but we know that we face numerous challenges – including accelerating our commitment to combat gender-based violence.
“Our commitment to inclusion and diversity is an important ingredient in making sure we continue to attract and retain top talent in the industry and make a positive impact on society,” comments CEO Natascha Viljoen.
The GEI is a modified market capitalisation weighted index that aims to track the performance of public companies committed to transparency in gender-data reporting.
The index measures gender equality across five pillars: female leadership and talent pipeline; equal pay and gender pay parity; inclusive culture; anti-sexual harassment policies; and pro-women brand.
