Name and Location
Ammonia plant project, Louisiana, US.
Client
The Mosaic Company.
Project Description
The proposed project involves the construction of an ammonia plant adjacent to The Mosaic Company’s existing Faustina fertiliser manufacturing operations in St James Parish, in Louisiana.
The plant will have a capacity of 2 200 t/d.
Value
The project will cost about $700-million to implement.
Duration
The Mosaic Company expects to make a final investment decision on the project in mid-2013. Construction is expected to start in 2015, with commercial operation of the plant likely to begin in early 2016.
Latest Developments
Technip has been awarded a contract by The Mosaic Company for the front-end engineering and design (Feed), as well as for the preparation of the corresponding engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) proposal for the proposed project.
The proposed design of the plant will feature Haldor Topsøe’s proprietary ammonia process technology that Technip has successfully engineered and constructed in projects for more than 40 years. Technip will also perform the preliminary design work for the plant offsites, utilities, interconnections, as well as other supporting units for the facility.
The development of the Feed and corresponding EPC proposal began in November 2012; both are targeted for completion by mid-2013.
