Exxaro Resources and the Tata Power Company through Cennergi.

Cennergi has established the Amkhala Emoyeni RE Project company.

Amakhala, owns 95% of the project, while the remaining 5% is held by two community trusts.

Project Description
The 138.6 MW wind farm will be located on five private farms covering 130 km2.

The project will comprise 66 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2.1 MW; additional infrastructure, such as underground power cables linking the turbines; access roads on the farms; and a substation.

South African State-owned power utility Eskom will construct a 19 km 132 kV transmission line from the project’s substation to its substation, which is located adjacent to the project facility.

Value
The project is estimated at $352-million.

Duration
Construction of the project is expected to take 24 months.

Latest Developments
The international Finance Corporation (IFC) is proposing a loan of $72-million to Amakhala to support the development of the project.

Construction of the project will be executed on an engineering, procurement and construction basis, with oversight by Cennergi and Hatch Africa
